Student:Improved health validated by doctor

I just have to share some good news with you all. Once a year my bank offers a health test, weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, body fat, hemoglobin etc. Well, I was asked to step on the scale...hmmm you are to heavy, she said (cant be, impossible, my doctor tells me I’m only 1 kg overweight). But all right, I know I’m too heavy, she didn’t have to tell me that. I get a grumpy :(
Next she wants to measure my blood pressure. “My, are you relaxed today”, she said (what does she mean by that, I’m always relaxed :) ). “Your blood pressure is terrific, 118/80.” That was good news, its usually 140/90, much too high and I’m on medication. So there I get a smile :)
Then she wants to measure my waistline. The standard size is 80 cm…well, mine is a little bit more - just a little bit - you really don’t wanna know how much - I got a grumpy :(
Body fat is next. She hands me this THING and asks me to hold it in my hands for a while. Well, as my overweight that1 kg, so is my body fat. I get a grumpy :(
Then she measures my cholesterol...5.37...it was 6.15 last year!!!! I get a smile :)
My hemoglobin was 158...average is 120...another smile :)
So you see my dear ones: that green stuff is really worth doing, it improves health. So now I just have to work on my 1 kg overweight for a while so I will get 6 smiles next year :)))))) Love to you all, Hafdís

Raw Food class with Gitte

5 students from the school enjoyed learning about Raw Food in a class with Gitte.

Since Saturday I have been doing green rice (aha! new dish). Yes, I didn't have cauliflower, so I used broccoli instead and it was great with the sauce (carrot ginger dressing), sweet and sour. My freezer have now 3 boxes of Sunflower Power Balls, yes of course I doubled the recipe you know I have big family (I will eat it myself, who are you kidding). I have also been doing my carrot juice. Oh yes! I had this juice maker well hidden after using it only 2 times. Every morning, I’m doing fruit soups similar to the green one, so I am rather Raw and thinking more about it. I am saving the carrot pulp so I can make the carrot cake or use it in the chocolate cake instead of the almond pulp. Now my window is filled with glasses of dates, raisins and nuts in water to do something tomorrow, I even bought the avocado, looking forward to experimenting more, Bára.

A new experience for me, making raw-food, I had a lot of fun doing it. Most courses tasted great, some better than others :) And a great company too! Hafdís

STUDENTS REPORT ON THEIR SELF-HEALING

A unique feature of Heilsumeistaraskólinn ( School of Natural Medicine in Iceland) is that all students MUST start with a 3 months naturopathic Self-Healing Program, a program that includes all the things we teach in the school. We asked everyone for a report and here they share their experience. It's truly inspiring - and in some cases funny. Enjoy!

“Since the 20th of August I have been totally devoted to this purification diet. That is for nearly 6 weeks now. Honestly it has not been hard at all…. Since I have decided to follow this program I’m doing it with style and grace. Actually, I’m very proud of myself for sticking with it - it’s quite an ego kick…. My lungs feel so much better almost as if I have a brand new pair - amazing. Plenty of energy all day long. Waking up as soon as I wake up in the morning without 3 cups of coffee…. The silhouette has changed for the better the belly is not as huge nor the double chin. There have been a few strange things happening, though, like flash-backs from past conditions rather, each one only lasting a short time, couple of days or so. For example dizziness, inner ear unbalance (used to bother me many years ago), mouth ulcers or sores, face skin blemishes, dry spots on elbows, very hot and red ear loop, stiff fingers in the mornings only for a minute or so. That’s pure detox for you!”

“I've been on track, except for one occasion where I gave in - to a hot dog ( in an emergency situation ☺ and by golly did it taste bad! I didn't want to finish it - I guess my sense of (food) taste is getting more sophisticated ☺.”

“The first 2-3 days when I started the self healing program I felt very tired, but after that I felt I had more energy than I had before. I have felt great and more relaxed since I started the self healing program.“

“I have lost 5 kg, my skin and hair are in better balance (less hair loss), elimination is more often, blood glucose-balance, the womb is not so swollen and I have much more energy now, less tired.. I have noticed less body smell from the entire body….More positive and open to my feelings.”

“I FINISHED one month on Mono…. I attended 2 parties, 2 days in a row, the first was with meat soup and I was allowed to go first in the pot and I fished out the turnips and it was great and when the pavlova (my favorite) came, I had only one and half organic apple. The next day my sister-in-law had a birthday with pizzas and cakes, I asked for carrots, they were served in a beautiful bowl with water in glass, and the admiration I got from my family felt good…. I am still drinking the liver cleanse drink, lovely and have already finished 2 weeks of castor oil pack…. Today as I write this: 10 kilo have left me and my husband, darling Doddi, has been with Lilja for a Self-Healing consultation and has started on the herbs, and just now we had our first green soup (a thick one) and we looked at each other: It was good!!! That was an amazing surprise. Love to you all.”

“…love the castor oil packs and the colon massage, I would like to wrap myself into the ginger packs but I let the kidney area do:-). The Epsom salt baths are an addiction as the dry brushing of the skin. The oils are a delight for me and I use them whenever I can. Making lots of raw food dishes in my kitchen and I think that I cannot live without the herbs and the slippery elm. I put the herbs in water, lemon juice, 2-3 drops lemon oil and a dash of cayenne pepper.”

“I think I’m gonna like this new lifestyle a lot, I have been eating mostly greens since 10th of August, did mono meals for about a month and lost 4 kg. Monomeals suits me fine during the day at work. And drinking that green stuff in the morning. Taking my herbal pills and doing epsom baths....I just luv that!.... My bloodpressure has changed from 140/90 to 130/83.....yeahh....yippeeee. I don’t feel as tired in the morning when I get up......don’t exactly jump from bed....but its a whole lot easier. Best is though I don’t feel so much muscle pain and stiffness and I’m not so tired after work.”

“I’ve been taking the flower-remedy-drops from the end of July. It has helped me a lot…. I felt lots of healing processes during the elemental dances, and I have been through lot of self healing by changing my way of thinking to be able to live in the present and enjoying it with myself and those who live it with me….I really like the way my life is flowing now. I’ve found my greatest fear and my most sensitive side, and found quite a help from reading Gitte’s codependence mail. I’m doing as much yoga as I can, ½ hour 2-3 times a week at home.”

"The castor oil, that was something I loved, it felt very relaxing and I put it on before I went to sleep and I would say that it worked very well…. Dry skin brushing is something that everybody should do every day, me and the brush are know best friends ☺… When I started using the flower drops I used them 4-5 times a day, but today 1 or 2 times a day. I think that they work very well. I am not sure what they do but I can feel that I am much more focused and more stable.”

“I am gradually changing my diet, getting used to putting something else on my plate at the dinner table. I never realized that food played such a big role socially....I am getting remarks from the extended family like: what can we give you to eat when you come visit? Are you going to eat salad at Christmas and so on. Some are supportive and others not. I am going out for walks every day for an hour and it is addictive!.... I rest better and I am not tired at waking up any more. Also lot of the muscle pains that I use to have, have disappeared. I just have to work on the joints now. I’ve started sweating again so my eliminative channels must be working better. I also don’t have as much PMS as before, both mentally and physically.”

“Just finished 3 days juice fast and had colonic therapy on Saturday. Went walking and did yoga outside before school. I’m feeling good except for a little candida, my periods are to come after few days so maybe that is the explanation. Still on living food and everything else. I forgot to mention that my one cup of coffee per day went out when I started 100% raw and I don’t miss it at all. Funny I thought I couldn‘t live without it.”

“My first month on the herbs went fine ☺. I felt good and my digestion is much better. Since the middle of august I have got rid of 7 kilos (I did not loose them because I do not miss them at all!!)…. I absolutely love the peppermint oil because it helps me so much with my appetite along with her herbs. I have been dealing with overeating and this totally takes care of that…. I did the juice fast 2 weeks ago and it was not hard at all. Well, the second day was a bit tricky, I was ready to taste almost everything! But I passed the test. I chickened out on the enema, though. But I’m ready to do it next time!”

“I take the herbs every day of course, raw food a lot, mono diet almost every day if not only healthy salads (without any addition).I do the reflexology regularly, the Epsom salt bath regularly, the dry skin brushing every morning now for three months and I love it…. I often feel cold, it is a much different body odor, all my body, the toes too, gas and everything smells of herbs, my skin too, all my skin is tighter and like thicker from all the skin brushing and I hardly feel the brush anymore, so something is definitely going on in my body. Thank you very much for the program, it is really working on my body.”

“I have lost 6 kg, since I started on the herbs … I use the oils a lot, breathing them: Valor, Lavender, White Angelica, Forgiveness and Thieves I take internally. I LOVE THE OILS.”

“For the first days I felt very sorry for myself, that I couldn’t eat whatever I vanted to eat but now I feel much stronger and I only eat alkaline food…. I started to scrub my body at the first days of the Self-Healing-program, before I take a shower in the morning and I have done it almost every day since 15th of August. I have especially scrubbed the areas around the upper arms, the neck and the knee, where the glands are and scrubbed the body in that direction – to the glands and the heart. I don’t feel any longer that my arms and fingers are asleep…. I have gone to the swimming pool on Sunday mornings for the hot water and the hot steam and cold shower. That is the best feeling ever – and I’m complete relaxed after that and I feel that my mind is so clear and light.”

“Months before I started I was always thinking of changing my eating habits and have a detox, so it really came to me through the course. I feel it is in resonance with me now, it was the right timing so to adjust to the change hasn’t been a struggle. I have tried some of the extra treatments, the castor oil pack is comfortable, the kidney ginger pack went all over my bed. I need to find a better way to keep it at my back. Well over all I am adjusting to this lifestyle change and liking it.”

“I think it was a lot of work in the beginning, changing the diet, finding new recipies, learning all the new treatments. It demands a total change of mind, to think differently. But I feel good about it, and I’m adjusting to giving myself the time required to think well about myself. And as the time goes by, the cravings have become weaker and the diet and the treatments are becoming a positive routine…. Of the treatments, the Epsom salt bath is one of my favorites, especially if done after workout. After the very hot bath, I take a really cold shower, and then enjoy the large amount of endorphin running around in my body…. During my first period at the school, I had this huge emotional reaction at home, where I cried and almost couldn’t stop. But it was a relief and I felt better afterwards. It made me think about my life, and what I could do to change it for the better.…. I’ve started to go to yoga, and I can feel that it’s good for me. So I’m slowly but safely on the road to a better health and a brighter future!”

“I felt good straight away when I started with the herbs, it was like it controlled my blood and the need for food decreased a lot…. I feel more calm and more stabilized.”

“I would say the greatest change is emotional. I have been so calm and relaxed since the school began. I have been using Valor and love it. I have been trying to come up with what change so much and suppose it is many things like to decide to go to the school and just do something I have wanted to do for long time. I feel like I have finally found something I just want do dive into and that gives this calm feeling….. I’m also more relaxed in communications with my husband, this feeling of being sure, calm and relaxed have done a lot for my marriage. I don’t get easily upset and have more patience…. So the conclusion is I have started to really believe in my self and that I have enough energy and power to do things I love. It’s so good feeling! “…not as much pain and gas in my digestive system but very often still diarrhea. I sweat tremendously without doing nothing special, mostly on the head and often at night (Farida told me that this was cleansing and would go over). Muscle stiffness and pain is better and not as often the flu-feeling as before and my sinuses are so much better. Sleeping is better and energy is better but still many times terribly tired. I have for years been on medicine for edema but I quit 3 weeks ago; my edema is not gone but is nearly the same as when I was on the medication!!... I have been using YL-oils for a year now. I use Epsom salt baths with oils and peace & calming and Lavender in my bedroom. And have nearly said goodbye to painkillers too!! And I am sure I can quit them completely soon.”

Liver cleanse drink for a purifying diet daily for 3 weeks and 3 days.
I have not started kidney ginger poultice.
Dry skin brushing daily for 2 weeks.
Epsom salt baths 3x week for 7 weeks.
Foot baths with Y.L.oils 3x week for 7 weeks.
Slippery Elm drink daily for 7 weeks.
Reflexology 4-5x week for 4 weeks.
I have been drinking the herbs and tea for 7 weeks.
I have eaten purification diet and mono meals for 7 weeks.
I have been drinking wheat grass juice for 7 weeks.
I take flower essences and applied Y. L. oil.
I think I like this new lifestyle a lot!”

“The liver cleanse drink has become part of my daily breakfast and now its very easy to drink it and I discovered that I have been taking it every day for more than five weeks but on my self healing program I was supposed to take it for 2-3 weeks. But my body feels great taking it so maybe I will do it as long as I want to…. I finished my mono meal last week but I decided to start again because I was not feeling good enough mixing together to many kinds of food…. I can feel more by every day what the nutrition, exercise and rest do for my body, feelings and how I act every day. I’m also learning better every day how I should listen to my body. Yesterday I was so tired and I told my children that I was going to have a relaxing day after work, and that I wouldn’t prepare a dinner for them, so I went to the library and got a book which I have been wanting to read for long time, started to read it, then I took a Lobelia bath, got some fruits for my body and went early to sleep. And the result is that I feel wonderful today and everything is more easy than yesterday. (My children did get something for dinner because my daughter cooked a meal for the boys and everyone was happy and I also helped them with their homework.)”
